Couples also have the option to live-stream the ceremony to loved ones back home.
Celebrity Cruises
For couples who prefer a sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic with high-end dining and boutique-hotel ambiance, Celebrity is a premier option. Like Princess, Celebrity's ships are registered in Malta — meaning captains can legally marry couples at sea. Their Edge-class ships feature the breathtaking Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform hovering over the ocean, and a lush open-air Rooftop Garden — both unforgettable venues.

Legal vs. Symbolic
If a legally binding ceremony at sea is important to you, Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises are your best options — both hold registrations that allow captains to officiate. For resort weddings, a local officiant or destination wedding coordinator handles licensure. For other cruise lines, a beautiful symbolic ceremony at sea paired with a legal ceremony at home is equally meaningful.
Embarkation Day Weddings
The most popular cruise wedding choice for couples who want friends and family present without requiring everyone to purchase a cruise ticket. Non-sailing guests are cleared by security to come aboard for a few hours for the ceremony and reception, then escorted off prior to sail-away.
Book Well in Advance
Whether at sea or at a resort, destination weddings require early planning. Cruise lines permit only a limited number of weddings per sailing, and premier resort venues book quickly — especially during peak season. We recommend beginning the travel planning process 12 to 18 months ahead of your intended date.
